Elena Dementieva photoOnly one of our cutie pies remains in the 2008 WTA Dubai Tennis Championships. Elena Dementieva reached the semifinals by defeating cutie pie Ana Ivanovic 5-7, 6-3, 6-3.

Elena next plays Francesca Schiavone who beat #1 ranked Justine Henin in the quarterfinals.

Cutie pie Anna Chakvetadze had to withdraw with a thigh injury after losing the 1st set 6-1 while playing Jelena Jankovic in the quarterfinals.

Elena is pictured here from a photoshoot. It looks like she wants someone to play with her in the sand!

Daniela Hantuchova photoIntroducing another cutie pie. This is Daniela Hantuchova, a 25-year-old cutie pie from Slovakia. She is pictured here thanking the crowd after wining her quarter-final match Jan. 23 in the Australian Open 2008 at Melbourne Park.

Daniela is currently ranked 7th in the world. She has won 3 WTA Tour singles titles and 8 WTA Tour doubles titles.

I think she has cute eyes, a cute smile, and cute …

2008 WTA Dubai Championships – 5 cutie pies!

Filed under: Current Events - 26 Feb 2008

Ana Ivanovic photoFive of our currently featured cutie pies are playing in the 2008 WTA Dubai Tennis Championship Feb 25 – Mar 2, – Ana Ivanovic, pictured here, Anna Chakvetadze, Maria Kirilenko, Elena Dementieva, and Patty Schnyder.

Ana Ivanovic is seeded 3rd and has a bye in the first round. That is good since she is still recovering from her ankle injury in the Qatar Open just last Thursday.

Anna Chakvetadze is seeded 6th, and Elena is seeded 8th. The other cutie pies are unseeded.

Winner – Maria Sharapova

Maria SharapovaAnd the winner at the Qatar Open on Sunday was cutie pie Maria Sharapova. She defeated her fellow Russian Vera Zvonareva 6-1, 2-6, 6-0.

Maria Sharapova had lost to Zvonareva at Indian Wells last year, so this win avenges that loss. This is Sharapova’s 18th career title.

With this win, Maria Sharapova maintains her 100 per cent winning record in 2008. And she remains 100% cutie pie!

Injury – Ana Ivanovic

Filed under: Injury, Tournament withdrawals - 24 Feb 2008

I’m sad, but not because of this photo of Serbian cutie pie Ana Ivanovic. I like the photo, a lot! This photo is of Ana playing a backhand during her Jan 24th semi-final match against Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia in the Australian Open 2008. That’s a nice backhand!

I’m sad because Ana sprained her ankle when she slipped on the baseline when leading Olga Govortsova of Belarus 6-3, 5-1 in a second round match at the Qatar Open last Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008. She struggled to finish and win, but then had to withdraw before her next match because her ankle did not improve enough overnight.

Ana was the top-seed this tournament. It’s too bad she had to drop out. That makes me sad.

Cute abs – Caroline Wozniacki

Caroline Wozniacki photoThis cutie pie, Caroline Wozniacki, is from Denmark. She was serving here against Russian cutie pie, Maria Sharapova during the JB Group Classic 2008 tennis exhibition tournament in Hong Kong, Jan. 2, 2008. Maria won the match 6-2, 6-2.

This is a wild serve, at least the server looks wild! It takes a wild serve to show off her abs. You can check out her WTA photo at Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Site. It is a less wild photo, but shows her real cuteness. It also shows her youth. At only 18, she is the youngest of our currently featured cutie pies.

Cute serve – Patty Schnyder

Patty Schnyder photoThis is cutie pie Patty Schnyder of Switzerland serving during her match at the Australian Women’s Hardcourt Championships on the Gold Coast, Australia, Monday, Dec. 31, 2007. Schnyder won her match against Russia’s Alisa Kleybanova 6-1, 6-3.

This definitely looks like a winning serve to me, as well as a good serve, a top notch serve, a great serve, and a sexy serve(r). You name it, I think she qualifies for all of them, except bad!

Patty is currently ranked 14th on the women’s circuit. She has won 10 WTA tour singles titles, and 4 doubles titles. So not only is she a good (looking) server, she is also a great tennis player!

Are you playing? Elena Dementieva

Elena Dementieva photoHere is another Russian cutie pie, Elena Dementieva. Those Russians sure are cute!

She can’t fool me, though. Nobody looks that “cool” while playing tennis. She’s not sweating. Her hair is not tied back. Her dress is not wrinkled. Her smile indicates she didn’t just loose a match. And she doesn’t look excited enough to have just won. Perhaps she is just getting ready to play. But then, where is the tennis court? I’m guessing she was doing a modeling shoot here. She makes a cute model though, don’t you think?
