Ashley Harkleroad – in the flesh!

Ashley Harklerad photoAshley Harkleroad is definitely a cutie pie, and a very sexy one at that. She has not been one of our featured cutie pies, but with a picture like this from an upcoming Playboy spread, how could we pass her up?

The cutie pies we’ve been following have been from the top 50 ranked women’s tennis players. Ashley is currently ranked # 72. But we may have to begin following her anyway. She’s too cute and sexy not to follow!

Ashley is from Los Angeles, California, USA. That’s probably where she got her nice tan. She is 23 years old and turned pro in June, 2000. She has not had a lot of success on the tennis court, reaching the 3rd round of a major tournament only twice – The Australian Open in 07, and Roland Garros in 03. This year she has lost in the 1st round of every major tournament.

Anna Chakvetadze loses in Quarterfinals of 2008 Bank of the West Classic

Anna Chakvetadze photoOne of our Russian cutie pies, Anna Chakvetadze, suffered a loss in the Quarterfinals of the 2008 WTA Tour Bank of the West Classic Tennis Tournament in Stanford, California, USA.

Anna, the 2nd seed, lost to 6th seed Marion Bartoli of France in straight sets, 3-6, 4-6.

Anna had a 1st round BYE, won her 2nd round match against Shahar Peer, which set up the 3rd round match against Bartoli in the Quarterfinals. So she only played two matches in this tournament. This is a disappointing loss for Anna, and not much of a warm up for the U.S. Open in August. Hopefully she can pick up her game by then.

The 2nd round proved to be tougher for her as she lost a close 3-setter to 60th ranked Mariya Koryttseva of the Ukraine 4-6, 6-4, 6-7(5-7). That was a very close match, and could easily have gone the other way. Next time, Caroline!
