Injury – Ana Ivanovic

I’m sad, but not because of this photo of Serbian cutie pie Ana Ivanovic. I like the photo, a lot! This photo is of Ana playing a backhand during her Jan 24th semi-final match against Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia in the Australian Open 2008. That’s a nice backhand!

I’m sad because Ana sprained her ankle when she slipped on the baseline when leading Olga Govortsova of Belarus 6-3, 5-1 in a second round match at the Qatar Open last Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008. She struggled to finish and win, but then had to withdraw before her next match because her ankle did not improve enough overnight.

Ana was the top-seed this tournament. It’s too bad she had to drop out. That makes me sad.
