Nicole Vaidisova To Retire at Age 20
Nicole Vaidisova was ranked in the Top Ten at age 17 in 2007. She had reached the Semifinals of the French Open at the age of 16, then in 2007 won her way to the Semifinals of the Australian Open, and the Quarterfinals of the French Open and Wimbledon, while bowing out of the U.S. Open in the 3rd round. She racked up 6 Sonny Ericsson WTA Tour singles titles, plus two ITF Women’s Circuit singles titles, earning over $2.7 million.
Happy Birthday Nicole Vaidisova
Cutie pie, Nicole Vaidisova, celebrated her 20th birthday yesterday. She was born April 23, 1989 in Nurnberg, Germany and currently resides in Prague, Czech Republic.
Vaidisova has played tennis since she was six years old. She turned pro in 2003, and in 2006, at the age of 17 years, three months, and two weeks, she became the 12th youngest player in WTA Tour history to be ranked in the Top Ten. She achieved her highest singles ranking of No. 7 on May 14, 2007.
Vaidisova’s best showing in the Grand Slams thus far has been the Semifinals of Roland Garros in 2006 and in the Australian Open in 2007.
Vaidisova makes the 3rd round
German cutie pie, Nicole Vaidisova, won her way into the 3rd round of the 2009 WTA Sony Ericsson Open being played in Miami, Florida, USA, March 25 – April 4.
Vaidisova, ranked No. 71, had a relatively easy time winning her first two matches. She defeated No. 79 ranked Patricia Mayr of Austria, 6-4, 6-2 in round one. In round two, she beat No.36 ranked Alona Bondarenko of the Ukraine, 6-1, 6-0.
Nicole Vaidisova loses 1st round of 2008 Pilot Pen
German cutie pie, Nicole Vaidisova, looks hot in this photo, but she wasn’t quite hot enough on the tennis court in the opening round of the 2008 WTA Tour Pilot Pen tournament being held in New Haven, Connecticut, USA Aug. 18-24.
Nicole Vaidisova’s opening match was aginst 18th ranked Alize Cornet of France. Nicole lost the match in a somewhat close 2-setter, 3-6, 6-7 (8-10). Nicole battled hard in the tie-break and kept it close right up to the end. Had she won the tie-break, she would have had the momentum and it could have completely changed the outcome of the match.
Nicole Vaidisova loses 1st round at 2008 Olympics
Cutie pie, Nicole Vaidisova, of the Czech Republic, has lost in the 1st round at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
Nicole is ranked 20th in the world, but ran into a tough opponent in the 1st round, 18th ranked Alize Cornet of France. Nicole played hard, but couldn’t hold on for the win. She lost in 3 sets, 6-4, 1-6, 4-6.

Nicole Vaidisova loses in 1st round at 2008 Rogers Cup
German cutie pie, Nicole Vaidisova, was the 16th seed in the 2008 WTA Rogers Cup being played in Montreal, Canada July 28-Aug. 3.
Nicole lost her 1st round match against 33rd ranked Ai Sugiyama of Japan. It was a close 3-set match, but Sugiyama was too much for Nicole who ended up losing 3-6, 6-3, 2-6.

Nicole Vaidisova loses in 2nd round of East West Bank Classic
German cutie pie, Nicole Vaidisova was the 11th seed in the 2008 WTA East West Bank Classic being played in Los Angeles, California, USA July 21-27.
Nicole defeated 133rd ranked Ayumi Morita of Japan in a 3-set 1st round match, 6-7(5-7), 6-3, 6-1. In the 2nd round, she lost to 59th ranked Bethanie Mattek of the USA in straight sets, 4-6, 0-6.
This was not a good showing for Nicole after reaching the Quarterfinals at Wimbledon. Hopefully she can do better in the US Open in August.
Nicole Vaidisova beaten in quarterfinals at Wimbledon
German cutie pie, Nicole Vaidisova was ousted from Wimbledon during the quarterfinals. She was beaten by 133rd ranked Jie Zheng of China.
Nicole lost the 1st set 2-6. She then picked up her game winning the 2nd set 7-5. But Zheng was too tough, and NiIcole lost the final set 1-6.
Nicole made it to the quarterfinals last year also. One of these years she is going to break through to the semis. She is only 19 years old, so she has many chances left. Maybe next year.
Nicole Vaidisova into quarterfinals at Wimbledon

Nicole lost the first set 4-6. She then picked up her game, getting to a second-set tie-break. At that point she really stepped up her game, not allowing her opponent a single point in the tie-break. She then went on to win the third set, 6-3.
Nicole Vaidisova makes it to week two at Wimbledon
German cutie pie, Nicole Vaidisova is in action here against Casey Dellacqua of Australia. Nicole won the match with impressive style, 6-2, 6-4. Casey is ranked # 43 in the world, so this was a great win for Nicole.
Nicole is now into the 2nd week of Wimbledon. Last year she made it through the fourth round to the quarterfinals before being defeated. She is on her way to another impressive run.
Nicole’s opponent will be one of our featured cutie pies, Anna Chakvetadze of Russia. Anna is seeded 8th, and Nicole 18th. This should be a good match.
