Nicole Vaidisova survives the 2nd round

German cutie pie, Nicole Vaidisova, survived a 3-set match over 98th ranked Samantha Stosur of Australia. Nicole won the first set easily at 6-2. Then things fell apart with Samantha getting a second set bagel, 6-0. Nicole fought back to win the third set 6-4.

After that tough 2nd round match, Nicole will now face 43rd ranked Casey Dellacqua of Australia. This is only Casey’s 2nd appearance at Wimbledon. She lost in the first round last year. Nicole should make it through this round as well.

Nicole Vaidisova to 2nd round at Wimdledon

Nicole Vaidisova, cutie pie from Germany, has advanced to the second round at Wimbledon by defeating Zuzana Ondraskova of the Czech Republic. It was a relatively easy match for Nicole who won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.

Nicole is showing some muscle in this image. It takes muscle and grit to play in the major tournaments. Nicole will now face 98th ranked Samantha Stosur of Australia. Stosur has played five times at Wimbledon but has never advanced past the second round. So my money is on the muscle of Nicole.

Nicole Vaidisova seeded 18th at Wimbledon

Cutie pie, Nicole Vaidisova, is seeded 18th at the 2008 All England Lawn Tennis Championships beginning this week. Nicole is from the Czech Republic.

Nicole is currently ranked 22nd in the world. This will be her 4th appearance at Wimbledon. She reached the 3rd round in 05, the 4th round in 06, and the quarterfinals in 07. That must mean she’ll reach the semifinals this year.

Nicole’s first round opponent is 28-year-old Zuzana Ondraskova, also of the Czech Republic. Zuzana is ranked 184th in the world and has never made it past the 1st round in four tries at Wimbledon. So Nicole should have an easy first match. Go Nicole! Make it to the semifinals!

Nicole Vaidisova out in 1st round

Cutie pie, Nicole Vaidisova, of the Czech Republic, played in the 2008 WTA Tour The International Women’s Open being held in Eastbourne, England June 16-22.

Nicole, who is just 19 years old, was the 7th seed in the tournament and played another 19 year-old, Olga Govortsova, from Minsk, Belarus. Nicole lost that 1st round match 2-6, 4-6.

That was not a good showing with Wimbledon just around the corner. Hopefully Nicole will be able to do better next week.

Nicole Vaidisova in DFS Classic

Cutie pie, Nicole Vaidisova played in the 2008 WTA Tour DFS Classic which was played in Birmingham, England June 9-15.

Nicole was the 3rd seed. She won her first match against Nathalie Dechy 6-1, 6-3. Her second match was a close 3-setter which she won 6-7(5-7), 6-2, 6-4. She was then defeated in the quarterfinals by Bethanie Mattek from the USA 3-6, 0-6.

Hopefully this will be a good warm-up for her so she is ready for Wimbledon which begins June 23.

Nicole Vaidisova upset in French Open

Cutie pie Nicole Vaidisova was the first of the seeded players to be upset in the French Open. Nicole was seeded 15th, and lost to unseeded 70th ranked Iveta Benesova in straight sets 6-7 (2-7), 1-6.

This is the 3rd tournament in a row that Nicole has lost in the 1st round. The three tournaments before that she was beat out in the 2nd round. Just an unbiased observation – I think she needs to do something different. It is difficult to build up the hardware on the trophy shelf when you don’t make it past the 1st or 2nd round.

Happy Birthday Nicole Vaidisova

Happy birthday to cutie pie Nicole Vaidisova, who turned 19 on April 23rd. Nicole was born in 1989 at Nuremberg, Germany. She now lives in Prague, Czech Republic.

Nicole turned pro in 2003 at the age of 14. She has been ranked as high as 7th in the world. Her current ranking is 16. She is coached by David Felgate as of this month. She was introduced to tennis by her mother, Riana, at the age of 6. Her favorite city is New York because of all its activity. I’d go there to try to crash her birthday party, but for some reason she didn’t let me know where it was being held.

Nicole Vaidisova out of Pacific Life Open

Seventh seed, Nicole Vaidisova is the 2nd of our featured cutie pies to get beat out of the Pacific Life Open tournament going on in Indian Wells, CA. She is pictured here returning a shot against Casey Dellacqua of Australia on Saturday. Nicole lost the 3-set match 1-6, 6-3, 4-6. Maria Kirilenko got beat out in the 2nd round by another cutie pie, Caroline Wozniacki.

The other cutie pies are all still advancing. Number 1 seed, Ana Ivanovic advanced to the 3rd round with a 3-set win 6-1, -7, 6-0 over Romanian Ioana Raluca Olaru.

Nicole Vaidisova is a Czech cutie pie. She was born in Nuremberg, Germany, but currently lives in Prague, Czech Republic. She has a current WTA ranking of 14 and is just 19 years old and is already into her 5th year on the pro tour. She has six WTA Tour singles titles and 2 ITF Women’s Circuit singles titles.
