This isn’t a lesson. It’s a turning point.

This isn’t a lesson.
It’s a turning point.

Whether you’ve been stuck for months or chasing progress for years, private coaching with Ian Westermann delivers clarity, breakthroughs, and momentum faster than anything else you’ve tried.

For over 15 years, players from across the world have flown to Milwaukee to work with Ian because of one reason:
❝  I really feel like I’ve accomplished more in the last 7.5 hours than almost an entire year of taking conventional lessons.  ❞
Corey from CA - 4.5 Player
In just a few hours with Ian on court, you’ll:
● Finally understand why your strokes break down under pressure
● Discover exactly how to fix the one key flaw holding back every part of your game
● Leave with a detailed, personalized plan to keep improving at home for years to come
You can choose from three levels of access depending on how deep you want to go.

Different Than Anything You've Ever Experienced

True Personalization
This isn't a clinic. It's not group drills. It's not a "tennis factory" like all the big name academies. It’s a completely customized experience built around your game, your goals, and your habits.

Slow-Motion Video Diagnosis
See what no coach at home can show you. Frame-by-frame analysis reveals the real reason your skills break down—and how to fix it as fast as possible.

Long-Term Fixes, Not Quick Tips
Ian doesn't patch problems. He rebuilds fundamentals from the ground up using a proven step-by-step progression system. When you leave, you’ll know exactly what to work on and how.

Immediate Progress, Lasting Change
Most students report more progress in a single day than years of lessons:
❝  I think that everything I learned in two days would have taken me a couple of years to learn back at home if I did clinics and hour lessons here and there. I really think the two days here is absolutely worth a year or two at home. ❞
Jaden from NV - 4.0 Player
❝  I would tell others that they must do it. Because if you don’t do it, you could just go to 100 tennis camps and even many, many lessons — just that hour a week is not going to do it. This is a different approach and an immensely better approach. ❞
Jeanne from MA - 3.5 Player

Feedback From Ian's Students:

❝  A true once in a lifetime opportunity and a revolutionary experience for your tennis game... ❞
"I'm convinced that Ian is one of the only coaches on the planet who could have spotted my forehand deficiencies and corrected them. After years of trying and failing with several other coaches to correct my forehand technique, I was desperate to try something different.

The minute we stepped on the court together, I could immediately tell that Ian's approach was worlds apart from any other tennis coach. Rather than spouting general suggestions or offering quick fixes, Ian meticulously looked at my forehand (and all other strokes!) on video in slow motion and helped me to identify the one critical flaw in my technique. Over the next two days, we went through personalized drills and progressions to overcome this flaw and make a long term plan for further improvement after our two day session.

Between the in depth video analysis and Ian's years of coaching experience, I am convinced that there is no better way, and possibly no other way at all, to fundamentally improve one's stroke technique outside of Ian's methodology. The cherry on top is that he's still helping me with my strokes a year later, looking at video with me and analyzing my technique. If you train with Ian, it is a true once in a lifetime opportunity and a revolutionary experience for your tennis game."
Tim from NY - 3.5 Player
❝ If you’re really serious about improving your game, this is an invaluable experience. ❞
"Every hour there was an ah-ha moment. Almost on every stroke there was something ‘ah-ha’ about it. Going back to what I was envisioning I was doing versus what I was actually doing, was an ah-ha moment for me.

Instruction from Ian is much more in-depth from start to finish. Even though it might take a half a second to complete a forehand, there are several pieces to it that can go in error. And the instructing pro back home can’t quite capture everything going on in a half a second. But Ian can with the help of the camera. So when you see the split second motion of each frame of what’s actually happening, Ian is able to work through with you on how to perfect those motions biomechanically. And you don’t get that at home.

If you’re really serious about improving your game, this is an invaluable experience."
Dennis from CA - 3.0 Player
❝  This is triple the value you pay... ❞
"After watching all the videos and seeing the transformations made, to me, it was a no-brainer. I wanted to progress my tennis and I felt like this was the fastest and best way to do it.

I’ve gotten to see strokes in ways I’ve never seen them before and to me, everything was explained in a simple, easy to understand way - you’re given the how and the way. So to me it made it easy to learn and easy to progress.

To me, corrections here are like months worth of lessons and clinics. Of which, you’d probably spend $70/hour and you do that 1-2 times a week, then you have $120 clinics, so easily probably worth 10-12 grand on what I spent learning tennis as a kid growing up.

The speed is unmatched as far as the progress, at least in my personal opinion….and the idea of having an action plan afterward to follow on your own…..It’s well worth it, it’s triple the value you pay.

Great value, great tennis, and I would do it again after I go home and correct my errors."
John from TX - 3.0 Player
❝  It would take you a year to even get close... ❞
"I believe that a new set of doors have been opened for me to walk through and to continue development. It wasn’t a case of coming over and saying ‘well here’s the answer’. It was a case of coming over here and identifying where those doors were and showing me how to go through them if I choose to follow the training and the development and the training of those opportunities.

Yes, it is worth coming across the world for. That’s from my perspective, for sure. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be doing it, would I? From my perspective, I’ve been given a new set of tools that I can go away and use and I can go away and develop. I don’t see the same opportunity in Australia. And that's truthful. And having a one hour session with your local club pro - it would take you a year to even get close to what you can achieve in a short period of time while you are here. So, return on investment is high."
Sean from Australia - 4.5 Player
❝  This was full immersion... ❞
"Most other instructional tennis is an hour at a time and it’s good enough to the ball back and get a good sweat. I don’t mean to trivialize the hourly lesson, there is real value in that, but there's not a lot you can do on any one thing beyond tinkering. This was full immersion.

There’s a lot that goes into getting a ball over the net. What’s clear to me is that I’m only aware of a small fraction, if that, at any given time. Let alone being able to sort of break it down into little tiny steps. And one of the things that out of working with you guys is not only full focus on that but an expert eyes view on where I could, where I needed help basically. Whether or not it was tweaking or full fledged breaking down and redeveloping, just taking it step by step by step is a real professional attribute to the Essential Tennis group.

Do it! Talk to your family, talk to your spouse, talk to your boss and just treat yourself. And there will be no regret. There is no way you won’t come out of this getting your investment in it, whatever sacrifice you need to make. What ever sacrifice you need to make to get here, it comes back full fold."
Steve from CA - 3.5 Player
❝  I think you should charge double... ❞
"This type of experience, I keep calling it an immersion because it absolutely is. You surround yourself with amazing energy, all of the coaches here, all of you guys are just so fun and happy and encouraging. So having two solid days, many hours and just having that immersion into this experience really causes change very very very fast.

I think that everything I learned in two days, would have taken me a couple of years to learn back at home if I did clinics and hour lessons here and there. I really think the two days here is absolutely worth a year or two at home.

I think you should charge double. I told you yesterday you should double your prices, because it’s worth every single penny."
Jaden from Nevada - 4.0 Player
❝  Worth travelling across the world!! ❞
"I wanted Ian to help me find out what’s my strengths and weaknesses, to understand how to win more matches, as well to solve my problems of double faults. In those contents, Ian clearly showed me exactly what I did in slow motion, then with comparison of pros’ slow motions, fill in with contexts, simply got me understanding what’s wrong, what could be corrected to get certain results. After understanding the knowledges, coach helped me go through high quality practices for each session, please note here, they were good practices not just practices, the practices that can help me improve instead of building up bad habits.

The time investment on Ian’s court was limited, however, above the actual high values, I am allowed to have continuous conversations with Ian back at my own courts for further questions, therefore I can continue the good practices for improvements and prevent any bad habits just like Ian was with me in Milwaukee."
Corrine from China - 3.5 Player
❝  Nothing compared to what I experienced... ❞
"What a fantastic experience! I travelled from the UK and was met at the airport by Ian who then took me to the hotel. The accommodation was fantastic. Ian explained everything about what was going to happen, and asked me for my hopes and expectations for the two day VIP trip. It could not have been better.

Ian videod every part of my game and provided me with individual feedback and brilliant, constructive advice. That’s when you truly appreciate his expertise. I haven’t had much coaching before but I can honestly say that nothing compared to what I experienced. The feedback video is invaluable - it definitely improved my game. Thanks again Ian 👍"
Mark from England - 3.5 Player
❝  Ian provides a blueprint to your entire game... ❞
"Ian's approach draws on both technique and psychology. And the focus is on very deep fundamentals that if learnt and executed enable many of the one-off aspects other instructors focus on. In other words his teaching method fixes multiple things all at once. And because of this, it is much easier to go back and work on issues that arise and correct them naturally. So many times I hear him say 'it happens naturally' or 'it comes along for the ride'. Ian doesn't just fix your leaky faucet, he provides a blueprint to your entire plumbing system to prevent the leak from happening again.

His use of video instruction is unparalleled. The camera doesn't lie, and the real time video instruction is extremely helpful both during lessons but also afterwards. The mind-body connection is challenging and he conquers it through state of the art video technology.

He also creates an atmosphere of positivity, fun and enthusiasm. He enjoys the camaraderie of his students and makes an effort to get to know them even off the court at lunches, dinners or meetups. He is joyful about helping his students improve and this is what keeps me coming back!"
Sameer from IL - 4.0 Player
❝  Hire Ian and you'll take your tennis to a new level... ❞
"I was terrified of the net! I don’t know what my deal was – afraid of getting hit with the ball, poor reflexes. Ian patiently helped me get over my fear and transformed my doubles game. He gave me a video to take home and made very practical suggestions about how to continue to work on my volleying on my own. I’m now on a tennis team playing doubles and winning.

My coach recently commented on how much I’ve improved. She said, “At first, I’d say to myself, ‘Oh no, Jenny’s at the net.’” (That’s how bad I was!) Now I’m competing regularly and winning my doubles matches.

Ian is the best. Hire him and you’ll take your tennis to a new level."
Jenny from FL - 3.5 Player
❝  The best day of my tennis life... ❞
"I started playing tennis in 1972, and have loved the game ever since. In those 53 years there has not been anyone come across my radar who is as passionate and skilled about coaching than Ian. I followed him on the internet for years, occasionally dipped my toes in his water, and this year finally dove in headfirst.

His dedication to coaching plus his knowledge and experience made it the best day of my tennis life. His ability to see the flaws in all aspects of your game, ascertain the 'one key first fix' for a broad array of mistakes, and then teach the solution in moments is genius at work.

He does not just say 'you need to do this:' he knows how to teach you to undo the bad habits and learn the new habits quickly."
Harry from TX - 4.0 Player
❝  Unprecedented and unlike any other coach... ❞
"Ian is as thoughtful and detail oriented of a coach as I have ever seen. He went out of his way to personalize our lesson in a way that was unprecedented and unlike any other coach that I have worked with in the past. We worked together to analyze my game, pinpoint its weak spots, and put a plan together to address them.

I was most impressed by Ian's critical thinking skills. Unlike some coaches that have more of a "cookie cutter" mindset, Ian took his time analytically breaking down my game before offering tips & coaching. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ian to any thinking tennis player."
Angad from NY - 3.5 Player
❝  Tennis friends comment on how my power looks so effortless... ❞
"This particular year, I felt I was in a tennis rut, physically and mentally. It was time to invest in myself, my game and flew to Milwaukee for personal coaching. I completed the self evaluation, followed by a zoom meeting to talk about the eval and my goals prior to my arrival. When I arrived for my coaching session we began with an on court evaluation.

I was glad that he didn’t want change “my style” but he showed me how to improve my style of play so that it was more impactful on the court. We tweaked some areas, added a couple of things that were lacking. The before and after videos were huge! For example, when I was serving Ian picked up on a couple of quirky things I did which I was unaware of! We also talked about the mental frustration and he helped me look at it in another way - a way that was way more positive and productive.

Since I’ve returned home, tennis friends have comment on how my power looks so effortless and I use the mental suggestions that we talked about. New attitude!
If you want to improve, personal coaching with Ian is totally worth it! Invest in yourself."
Melanie from GA - 3.5 Player
❝  Finally, I’m feeling like I’m making progress... ❞
"I love the way Ian approaches coaching - first, he made it easy by quickly getting to a few issues that if addressed would help me enormously. Second, all of the video work is just such an incredible eye opener. I’ve always thought I knew what I wanted to do technically. Yet, you helped me not only to show me where I was making my mistake, but also how to fix it.

His ability to focus on a few small changes to make incredible improvements is a real super power. I’ve spent years working with a variety of coaches and it’s just so rare to find someone that can quickly hone in on a few small things to make big improvements. And to do this in such an easy and comfortable setting is wonderful.

I’ve taken two lessons and I have a third to be scheduled this year. It’s been a fantastic journey over the last two years to focus on improvement and it’s really making a difference. Finally I’m feeling like I’m making progress in really improving my game. Thank you!"
Jeb from IL - 4.0 Player
❝  50 times the value you get for anything else... ❞
"This is 50 times the value that you get for anything else I’ve seen. I think it’s a big game changer.

I would encourage anyone to try it out - because for me personally, it’s a pretty big revelation and a big eye opener. It will definitely change your game, there is no doubt about it in my mind.

I’ll just put it simply, I’ll do it again next year. That’s my goal."
Siby from TX - 4.0 Player
❝  Just get here, you won't regret it... ❞
"It was a solid step by step process, vs someone trying to say just 'hit it this way'.

Just do it. I don’t care what it takes, just get here. You won’t regret it. Because when you leave here you’ll feel totally different about your tennis game.

That’s what I’m most excited about, feeling great about it. I know where I need to go, I know what I need to work on. Just get here, it doesn’t happen until you get here. I don’t care how many videos you watch at home, you won’t get the full experience until you actually get the feeling down and the working with someone and then showing you specifically. So get here."
Scott from NV - 3.5 Player
