Maria will make her 5th try to show her stuff at Wimbledon. She has not made it past the 2nd round in her previous four tries. The past two years she has lost in the 1st round. So it is time for her to prove she deserves her ranking.
Maria’s 1st round opponent is 21-year-old Vera Dushevina, also from Russia. Vera is ranked 63rd in the world and has also never made it past the 2nd round in four tries at Wimbledon. So this will be a match-up of two players really wanting to prove themselves. My bet is on Maria.
