Then, you practice, practice, practice. And then, when you finally get up there on the bandstand, forget all that and just wail. Mike October 12, 2016 at 6:53 pm - Reply Surely the position to be in when stepping up to serve is where do I want to place the ball and with what power/ weight (spin), and be ready to anticipate the retturn to dominate the next shot? Practice builds the confidence to be able to put the ball into a position from which to maximise the chance of winning the point. I agree thst this should be as 'automatic' as possible, and not mechanistic, or fearful, hence the importance of technique and practice to build confidence. Roy October 12, 2016 at 3:10 pm - Reply I agree w/ you, but I would think Roger's (and other pros') main thought would be placement/target in relation to his opponent's setup position, their relative strengths/weaknesses, and what he (Roger) wants to do w/ the return of serve, that is, his play plan. Good job as always and thanks. Noushin October 12, 2016 at 2:43 pm - Reply Many thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge! Ian Westermann October 12, 2016 at 8:07 pm - Reply You bet!
