Djokovic still looks like the odds-on favorite to win the year-end championship.  With Roger Federer still struggling with serve and Murray have dropped a match to the Serb, Djokovic was looking to finish his group undefeated.  Djokovic took the first set rather comfortably at 62.  He attributed this to some poor serving by Berdych which allowed him to control the match.

Berdych was down a break in the second, but managed to get the break back, and then it was close to the tiebreak where Berdych took a big lead, even at triple set point.  Djokovic, however, clawed his way back, and took the second set tiebreak, 8-6.

The late match pits Andy Murray against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.  Although Tsonga has not won any matches, Berdych’s loss (which leaves him with a 1-2 record in the round robin) gives Tsonga a mathematical possibility of making it to the semis.  He must beat Murray in straight sets to reach the semis.  If Murray wins a set, then Murray goes in as Group A’s second ranked player.

Tsonga has struggled beating top players this year, only winning against Juan Martin del Potro in Rome (technically, he got a walkover against Federer in Doha, but they didn’t play the match).  Murray struggled a bit with Djokovic, but that’s understandable given Djokovic is number 1.  Still, when Tsonga is on, he can be a difficult guy to play.
