US Open Men’s Seeds Announced

Today, the seeds were announced.  It follows the rankings.  The only two missing players are Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Juan Martin del Potro, the defending champ.  Players that just missed being seeded are a few Frenchmen: Michael Llodra, Julien Benneteau, and Richard Gasquet.  Nalbandian and Hewitt barely made the seedings. 1. Every Monday, the new rankings come out (except in the middle week of Slams and during periods where no tournaments are played).  Slams and Masters 1000 potentially shuffle up the rankings more than usual because they are worth so many ATP points. del Potro won’t defend US Open title

As expected, Juan Martin del Potro will not defend his US Open title.  He was expecting to mark his return at the end of September in Bangkok, but nothing sooner than that.  With only a week before the US Open, del Potro has not played any tournaments since the Australian Open and only started practicing
