Caroline WozniackiWorld No. 1, Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark, was upset on Wednesday in a quarterfinal match at the 2012 WTA Apia International Sydney tournament by No. 7 seed, Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland.

Wozniacki had a chance to serve out the match at 5-4 in the second set, but was broken, then lost four straight games leading to a 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 defeat. In that final set, the 21-year-old Dane underwent multiple treatments on her left wrist.

With the loss, No. 2 Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic has a chance to overtake Wozniacki as the top-ranked player in women’s tennis. In order to do that, Kvitova would have to win the Sidney International which would require a semifinal victory over No. 5, Li Na of China and a finals win over either Radwanska or world No. 3 Victoria Azarenka of Belarus. “To be honest, I don’t think about it,” Wozniacki said of the No. 1 ranking. “The most important thing is to be healthy and be able to play and play well.
